The Sierra
Nevada of Santa Marta is an independent bulk of the Andean system
that rises from the sea to 5,775 meters of height, constitutes a
unique ecosystem in the world, is this one the scene where this
one located Teyuna, in the indigenous language and Buritaca 200,
between the archaeologists and commonly Lost City.
Lost city is a magnificent sample of an urban location
tayrona in the sources Buritaca, to l.200 meters of height s.n.m.
There the Colombian archaeologists have rescued to the forest by
the end of setentas two hundreds of the original terraces, the streets
and ways, the systems of aqueduct and sewage system of one of the
many pre-Columbian cities of the Mountain range, remarkably spectacular
by the landscape and morphology of the land.
This it is a program that take three days of ascent
and two of reduction, like minimum, including one night in center
archaeological. To duer itself to me in campings of step, peasants
and Straits (he swings and sleeping-bag) and he is subject to a
very rudimentary feeding provided by the own guide. One is due to
go well provided with protection against the insects and with light
supplies. There are two main ways to arrive at the city:
The favourite by experienced and the one that our
company uses, that raises by the margin of the Guachaca river, crossing
the region of the Mamey (where it arrives itself in vehicle by a
spoolable one very deteriorated, to two hours and average of Santa
Marta). From he leaves the route of travellers there, that crosses
two smallest indigenous towns Koguis: Mutanshi and Koskúnguena,
this last one almost left. The end is a great stone perron with
more than two thousand steps, by which it enters the ruins. In this
route it has what cross a river Buritaca in several opportunities,
and it supposes to precaver itself of the risk of crescents. It
is one more a shorter route but of smaller landscaping and naturalistic
interest
The other way also supposes a stretch in country
that goes to Minca, and of there to the Tagua, by a highway in badly
been. From the Tagua it leaves to one first very colorful day that
crosses several zones of humid and deep forest, sometimes of fog,
with ascents and reductions alternate until arriving at “Cartagena
Edge”, where there is a small refuge of travellers in charge
of one of the foundations dedicated to the conservation of the mountain
range.
The second day is also colorful, and also with several
passages on crystalline rivers of great beauty, but much more difficult;
it finishes in “Stop of Sight”, another station equipped
for travellers, on the ruins of a Tayrona establishment partially
excavated; the third day is a very demanding way, by difficult land
(inescapably on foot), cross a river Guachaca and Buritaca.
The traveller must consider that the merit of the
trip is to enjoy the same way, and it supposes to fix clear conditions
to the guides, who tend to test of each day simple of effort. |
